Putting N-4 into evidence:

(N-4) (P + 100/12) = 1000

(N-4) (1000 / N + 100/12) = 1000

(1000N-4000) / N + (100N-400) / 12 = 1000

Solving this equation comes the quadratic equation:

100N2 - 400N - 48000 = 0

Applying Bhaskara we find x = 24.
