Unit Transformation

As we have seen, when working with angle measurements, we use the sexagesimal system. Note in the examples how to perform transformations on this system:

  • Turn 30th in minutes.

Solution:

Being 1st = 60 ', we have:

30º = 30 . 60'= 1.800'

So 30th = 1,800 minutes

  • Turn 5º35 'in minutes.

Solution:

5º = 5 . 60' = 300'

300' + 35'= 335'

Thus, 5 ° 35 '= 335'.

  • turn 8th in seconds.

Solution:

Being 1st = 60 ', we have:

8º = 8 . 60'= 480'

Being 1 '= 60 ", we have:

480'= 480 . 60"= 28.800"

So 8th = 28,800 ".

  • Turn 3º35 'into seconds.

Solution:

3º = 3 . 60'= 180'

180' + 35' = 215'

215' . 60" = 12.900"

So 3rd 35 '= 12,900 "

  • Turn 2nd20'40 "in seconds.

Solution:

2º = 2 . 60' = 120'

120' + 20' = 140'

140'. 60"= 8.400"

8.400"+ 40"= 8.440"

So 2'20'40 "= 8,440"
