# Equivalent Decimals

The figures were divided into 10 and 100 parts, respectively. Next, 4 and 40 of these parts were dark green colored, respectively. Watch:  We found that 0.4 represents the same as 0.40, ie, they are decimal equivalents. Thus equivalent decimals are those representing the same amount.

Examples:

0,4 = 0,40 = 0,400 = 0,4000

8 = 8,0 = 8,00 = 8,000

2,5 = 2,50 = 2,500 = 2,5000

95,4 = 95,40 = 95,400 = 95,4000

From the above examples, we can conclude that:

 A number does not change when you add or suppress one or more zeros to the right of its decimal part.

## Comparison of decimal numbers

Comparing two decimal numbers means establishing a relationship of equality or inequality between them. Consider two cases:

1st case: the whole parts

 The largest is the one that has the most integer.

Examples:

3.4> 2.943, because 3> 2. 10.6> 9.2342, as 10> 9.

2nd case: whole parts are equal

 The largest is the one that has the most decimal. You must initially match the number of decimal places by adding zeroes.

Examples:

• 0.75> 0.7 or 0.75> 0.70 (equal to decimal places) as 75> 70.

• 8.3> 8.03 or 8.30> 8.03 (equal to decimal places) as 30> 3.
